Synopsis
Following the prestige trend of the era, Medea was marketed as a premium drama. Produced in 1910, it cleared regional censorships and reached German screens until 1911. Rather than adapting Euripides directly, the film is an interpretation of Austrian playwright Franz Grillparzer’s famous 1821 theatrical trilogy, Das Goldene Vlies (The Golden Fleece), specifically its third segment.
